Fostering a Puppy
Fostering a Puppy
Over the coronavirus quarantine, I fostered a puppy. I have a dog that I adopted from K9 Angels, which is a nonprofit, foster based dog shelter that rescues dogs and puppies from kill shelters. There was a puppy named Harriet that needed to be fostered, and my family signed up to foster her. Harriet was kind of hard to take care of, partly because she didn't like to sleep in the crate we had for her, and she had to sleep on the bed with us. Harriet also liked to play with my dogs. Comet, my beagle, kind of just ignored her. My other dog, Clementine, was a little mean to Harriet at first, but they ended up liking each other by the second day. All of that aside, Harriet was a good dog, and I had a lot of fun taking care of her. I would have adopted her if I could, but K9 Angels doesn't allow people to adopt the first dog that they foster.
I think that the CAS outcome that fits my fostering experience is "Recognize and consider the ethics of choices and actions". I think that fostering a dog is very ethical because because it helps keep dogs safe. If I didn't foster Harriet, she wouldn't have had anyone to take care of her over the weekend that I fostered her.
