UCLA Application Process
UCLA Application Process
Since this is my senior year of high school, I had to apply to college in the fall. One of the numerous colleges I applied to was UCLA. I applied to the film school at UCLA, and the process was really interesting. To apply to the film school, I had to submit a supplement. There were two options for the type of supplement I could submit: an film analysis essay or some sort of film related creative writing (a script, a treatment, a screenplay, etc.), both of which had a 5 page maximum. I chose to submit an original film treatment. I wrote a treatment for a horror film, and I based it off of a psychological experiment that was done in the 80's.
I think the CAS outcome I fulfilled through this experience is "Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process". Coming up with a 5 page treatment in a short amount of time was definitely a challenge because I had to come up with an entire storyline, then be able to condense that story into just five pages. I think that I was better able to develop my skills in writing film treatments during this process. I started working on this supplement right after I had learned how to write treatments in film class, so this was definitely good practice for me. I think that this experience was really good for me because it will help me in film school next year.
